What is 14.75 inches worth? The difference between a New England championship and second place in the women's' shot put. Similar to an old phase "winning by a mile". Emmaline was feeling good on Friday night and for those who know her you could see it in her eyes. Emmaline put together the best series of throws in Holliston H.S. history on her way to winning the women's' shot. At least three of her throws were good enough to win the competition. It was an awesome display and an inspiring performance. The winning throw was 42' 4.25" her second best throw ever.
On the track Holliston's other supergirl, Rosie Keogh, placed an outstanding 7th place in the two mile. Rosie's opinion was it was not a great race. Coach Blackmore's opinion is 7th place in all of New England is not a bad day's work. The 2 mile was a full contact event on Friday night. One girl hit the turf on the 3rd lap. Rosie was almost forced off the track several times in the early going but once the race progressed there was excellent racing.
Coach Vigue and Coach Blackmore are very proud of their star athletes and look forward to a great experience for them at the Nike Scholastic National Championship this weekend. Both girls will compete on Sunday against most of the top kids in the nation. A place where both of them belong.
