March 15th between 10:30 AM and noon Emmaline Berg became a Nike High School All American in the shot. To accomplish this feat she had to finish in the top six against the best in the land (including Canada). Emmaline finished 3rd. As far as anyone knows she is the first Track and Field athlete from Holliston to garner such an honor. Emmaline had the best post season of any Holliston track athlete ever winning the TVL championship with her best throw to date and an all time league record 42' 6", a record setting performance at the MSTCA Elite meet, a Division III crown, 2nd place at All States, a New England Championship and 3rd at the Nike Nationals. Coach Vigue, who has coached Emmaline throughout her career is one proud but not surprised mentor.
Mean while also on the 15th Rosie Keogh lined up with the best in the land at just after first light (7:30AM) and posted an 18th place finish in the two mile. Rosie, somewhat disappointed in her time and place was none the less outstanding. A top 20 ranking in the whole darn country. Rosie also had one of the best ever post seasons in Holliston Track history. Winning the TVL 2 mile and placing second in the mile, a 3rd place at the MSCTA Elite meet, a Division III 2 mile championship (1st ever for Holliston at that distance), a 5th place at the All State meet posting only the second sub eleven minute 2 mile in school and league history (was ranked 6th in the time in the nation at that time), and a 7th place finish at the New England meet to go along with the national meet effort. And yes, her career coach is so proud of her that words fail him at this time.
Great job girls!!!
