Please mark your calendars for the Indoor Track and Field Awards Night
When: Tuesday, March 10, 7:00PM
Where: Holliston Cafeteria
What is the Awards Night: One of the things the school requires of the coaches is to hold an awards event to recognize the successes of the teams and individual participation and efforts. Anyone who has been around Coach Vigue and Coach Blackmore know that we have highly competitive natures. We love to win. We love our sport. However, we also love to teach not only winning, but other very important lessens that can be learned from participation in sports. Among those being responsibility, commitment, respect, sportsmanship, a sense of purpose, time management and appropriate self esteem. When we gather together to reflect on our season, whether the results are perfect or less than perfect, we hope to point out the highlights, the work ethic, the leadership and the growth we observed throughout the season. We will also celebrate the accomplishments of certain standout individuals, recognize the future potential and give some insight to our sport that may not have been apparent to the none participating family members. We hope to see you at this event. We encourage you to introduce yourself and ask questions. Peter, Sam, Julie and James and our volunteer Ed (an outdoor coach) love to talk about your kids and the program, so do not be shy. Bring your family!! Please read on.
What to bring:
Freshmen: Bottled Water
Sophomores: Soda
Juniors: Cake or Pie (you must provide an ingredients list (school Wellness Requirement)
Seniors: Cookies or Brownies (you must provide an ingredients list)
Note: The format for this awards night has been changed. Apparently there are Board of Health regulations that do not allow us to bring in food cooked at home by parents for consumption by the group. We are compelled to follow these rules to protect the food service license held by the school. Anything less would not be a responsible action by the coaches and organizers of this event. Further, as we explored the options which included various levels of catering (and cost of attendance) and change of venue, we concluded that the price of admission would limit our target audience. Since the coaches have always worked toward a full team participation we hesitate to limit families who may not be able to put up a per head charge to attend on top of the $175 sports participation fee.
Hence we settled on an Awards Night with dessert and drinks. However, if you bake or make something per the above list you must provide an ingredient list attached to your contribution. This is a school wellness requirement. If you purchase the contribution it is provided on the package.
The event is setup and cleaned up by the seniors and their parents (although we encourage everyone to help out). The captains will organize things with the help of either their parents and the HABA liaisons. Senior parents, please get involved to make this a success.
