The girls had an excellent 5th place team finish on the shoulders of three inspiring performances. Taking the first championship of the meet was Emmaline Berg who, for the second year in a row dominated the shot winning with a throw of 39' 11.5". Emmaline won this event by an amazing 4' 5.25". Although off her meet record of over 41' set last year an under the weather Emmaline Berg showed why she is the class act in this state in the shot.
The longer running events were slowed by the greenhouse like temperatures in the Lewis center however, Rosie Keogh adjusted her race and showed why she is one of the top 2 milers in the state winning Hollistons' second championship of the evening with an 11:20.95 effort (4 seconds ahead of second place).
And to finish off the scoring for the girls, Marissa Bynoe powered her way to a 5th place finish in the 55 meter high hurdles. After making it into the finals by a mere 5/1000ths of a second running 9.152 she improved to an outstanding 9.02.
There were also excellent performances by Amanda Lang in the 2 mile, Jill Rosati who missed the freshmen mile record by less then 2 seconds running 5:44.50 (record held by Courtney Richard 5:42.57, 2001), Kerry Ritucci in the hurdles and Nicole Chaput in the long jump. The 4 X 400m relay team of Ritucci, Karly & Allie Slyne and Sam Panepinto put up an excellent time of 4:22.34 for 13th place.
On the boys side we had excellent performances by Justin Murray and Ben Moody in the 1,000m, Evan Reseska in the 2 mile, Matt Collari in the 300m, Patrick Delaney in the shot and the 4 X 400m relay team of Collari, Murray, Matt Miele, and Dino Roffo. All of the boys competitors are back next year with the exception of our league champion Patrick Delaney in the shot.
Moving on to the All State Meet, Friday the 27th are Emmaline Berg in the shot put, Rosie Keogh in the 2 mile and Marissa Bynoe in the hurdles. Good luck girls!!!!
